Sarah McDonagh is a successful personal trainer & owner of Fit with Sarah Mc. She shared her story with us to raise her voice for women who are still fighting for the right to shelter.
It was the first place I discovered my love of fitness, from playing football in the garden with my brothers to dancing, carefree, around my living room.
I was able to nurture my passion and start my own business, in an environment where I felt comfortable. To build up a client base, learn and study more about my industry & continue to gain confidence, all from the comfort of my own home. All because I had a safe place to live. Somewhere I knew I could go back to each day. Somewhere I found love, security and encouragement when I needed it.
But every day, millions of women and girls around the world are systematically denied their right to safe shelter.
This October, as part of the inaugural One World Festival NI, Habitat will launch a photo exhibition, to highlight the inequalities in housing faced by women around the world.
